S-CAT Casio MT-40 & MT-41
The Casio MT-40 is a home keyboard from the early 1980s. It has achieved cult status due to its "rock" bassline preset, used by dub reggae artists King Jammy and Wayne Smith in the famous "Under Mi Sleng Teng". This track kickstarted the digital dub movement when it was released in 1985. The "riddim" has been used by many producers in various genres over the years, and continues to be popular. The Casio MT-41 is identical in function but is dark grey rather than white. Check out the links for more information.

26 Mods, Extended Oak Frame
We first started finding modifications for the MT-40/41 in 2009. We liked the original sound and the results of our circuit bending so much that we have spent many hours searching for the ultimate collection of mods. It is unusual in having a dedicated bass section, rather than the bass & chords on many other models. It has a distinctive, clean, rounded bass tone that responds brilliantly to the new controls we have found. The drum sounds are basic but effective, and the addition of our drum mods makes the rhythm section much more aggressive.

S-CAT # 0500 was the first upright MT-40/41 - a special celebratory model with 26 modifications and a sapele hardwood frame. This became our standard, and we have built both grey and white versions , with co-ordinating control panels, in oak and sapele. More recently we built an extended desktop version with the same features. The latest incarnation is a slightly simplified set of mods packed into the MT-41 (21 rather than 26) with simple lacquered oak sides.

If you would like a custom version that differs from those shown, please contact us.
